Dealership Accelerator is hiring a Payroll Specialist

The job

We're about 25 people across Canada and the US: salaries, hourly staff, commissions and bonuses that change with every deal, and contractors. Payroll has been a side task. It's too important for that. We want one person who owns it, from the first timesheet to the last remittance.

  • Run every pay run in Rippling: hours, changes, new hires, departures, commissions and bonuses.
  • Remittances, filings and year-end in both countries: source deductions, T4s and ROEs in Canada; withholding, W-2s and state filings in the US.
  • Reconcile every run to the bank and the books, and hand our finance partner a clean summary.
  • Answer pay questions quickly and kindly, and keep every number confidential.
  • Build the checklist, calendar and controls that keep payroll predictable.

Who we are

Dealership Accelerator builds an AI BDC that works every lead at a car dealership within 30 seconds, 24/7. It runs inside 500+ dealers. 8-figure revenue, bootstrapped, zero outside funding. We run on systems, and on people who would rather check something twice than explain it once.

What winning looks like

  • 30 days: you've run payroll alongside the current owner and written down every step.
  • 60 days: you own the run end to end. Zero late payments.
  • 90 days: every run reconciles, every remittance is on time, and commissions go out without a correction.

Pay and logistics

CAD $80,000 a year, base salary. Full-time employee. Remote, anywhere in Canada. You'll report to the CEO. Start as soon as you're available. This posting is for an existing vacancy.

What you need

  • You've personally run end-to-end payroll: prepared it, checked it, approved or submitted it, and owned what happened next.
  • You know Canadian payroll cold: CPP, EI, tax, vacation pay, stat holidays, ROEs, T4s, remittance deadlines, and the provincial differences.
  • You've run US payroll yourself: federal and state withholding, W-2s, and employees in more than one state.
  • You've paid variable pay: commissions, bonuses or overtime that change every period.
  • You reconcile to the cent, you check your own work, and you can show us how.
  • You're strong in spreadsheets, you write clearly, and pay stays private. Always.

Nice to have:

  • Rippling. We're on it, so it's a real plus, but not required.
  • US 1099 contractor payments and year-end.
  • PCP certification, or working toward it.
  • You've been the only payroll person somewhere, or moved payroll to a new system without a missed payday.

Who this isn't for

  • If you want someone else to check your work before it counts. You're the last line.
  • If you've only entered data and someone else owned the run.
  • If "close enough" is ever close enough, please don't apply.

How we hire (about 2 weeks)

  1. 1Apply. A person reads every application.
  2. 220–30 minute call with us.
  3. 3Paid practical test: CAD $125, about 90 minutes, on your own time, all fake data.
  4. 4Final conversation with the CEO, plus quick calls with two people you've reported to.
  5. 5Offer.

AI helps us review applications. A person reviews every one and makes every decision; nothing is rejected automatically. We're an equal-opportunity employer, and accommodations are available at any stage. Just ask: contact@dealershipaccelerator.io.

Fill in the form below. It takes about 5 minutes: your details, your resume and a few quick questions.

One instruction, and it matters: make your first line the date of the last pay run you processed (YYYY-MM-DD), how many people were on it, and the payroll system you used. Don't name the company, and don't include anyone's pay.
